作为以『FF7』的故事为轴，在各种平台展开的衍生系列「Compilation of FF7」的第4弹，本作以动作RPG的形式在PSP平台登场。故事以在『FF7』中就暗示其存在的「扎克斯」为中心展开。除了在「Compilation of FF7」中登场的各种各样的角色之外，具有重要作用的新角色也会登场。他们的故事也将以超出想像的情节展开。「Compilation of FF7」中最古老的过去、至今没有被提及的『FF7』残留的谜将在这里解明。
